ETKL was founded in 1989 at Paide, 280 farmers present. First years of existence the number of members increased rapidly - 1991- 10.000 private farmers, recent years it has decreased, being now 5.000. The first bylaws was taken in 1989 and a new one 1996 at the annual meeting held in Jäneda. Its main areas of activity are the defence of its members economical, social, professional interests; the development of farming; the development of cooperative movement; advisory service, exchange of information, complementary education; improvement activities; and International cooperation.
