Ulsters Farmers’ Union (UFU)
![]() |
The Ulster Farmers’ Union was founded in 1918, and since then has been the main farmers representative body in Northern Ireland. The UFU has 25 groups, located across the province, with over 12,500 family farming members. As well as voluntary participation by its many members the UFU employs a professional staff of 21 with an additional 55 Group secretaries who service members needs from the Group offices. The UFU has links with the other UK farming unions and shares a permanent representation in Brussels, with them, through the Bureau de l’Agriculture Britannique. The Union’s professional staff have a very strong focus on agricultural policy and through a series of sectoral committees cover all the major farming production sectors.
